Art has a way of bringing people together to create a shared appreciation of beauty, creativity, and joy. Just as a writer tells a story through words, artists tell their stories through a variety of mediums– from painting, drawing, and sculpting to creating jewelry or pottery, every medium can have a different impact on the way the audience interprets and enjoys the piece created. Public art shows and exhibitions provide the perfect venue for artists to share their work and for art lovers to step into the perspective of another person.

The city of Naples is home to a variety of quality art museums, galleries, and art shows, creating a bustling and sophisticated art scene that draws locals and visitors alike. In fact, during the last few decades, Naples has not only become one of the premier art destinations in Southwest Florida but in the United States as well. If you’re looking for an opportunity to experience the finest artistic talent the area has to offer, here are four annual Naples art events that you simply can’t miss.

1. Naples National Art Fair

One of Southwest Florida’s most highly anticipated events of the year is the Naples National Art Fair, which is considered to be the must-see event of the season by locals and is consistently ranked as one of the top art shows in the country by Sunshine Artist Magazine. Hosted by Naples Art Institute, this show is a competitive, juried event that showcases the finest arts and crafts from artists in 17 different categories, including painting, jewelry, watercolor, ceramics, metal, sculpture, and wood. The 45th Annual Naples National Art Show will take place February 23rd - 25th in Cambier Park.

2. Art in the Park

Believed to be the first outdoor art show ever held in Naples, Art in the Park has been showcasing artists and connecting them with shoppers since 1957. The program prides itself on providing the Naples community with access to the fine art and craftwork of its most talented local artists. Art in the Park is a juried art show that runs monthly from November to April with two dates left this year: March 2nd and April 6th. Each show takes place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

3. Naples Downtown Art Show

The last major art show of the winter season in Naples is the Naples Downtown Art Show. Now in its 36th season, this 2-day event with jury-selected artists from across the country is where you can find incredible art while strolling along 5th Avenue South, as well as a variety of music and culinary treats. The event takes place from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on March 23rd and 24th

4. Art Alive! in the Naples Art District

Art Alive! is a district-wide event held throughout the Naples Art District. Over 80 artists participate in the event, which is held yearly from November to May. You can meet working artists, view live demonstrations in their art studios, buy unique art directly from the artists, and even sign up for classes. With an alternating schedule of the first Wednesday (3 - 7 p.m.), the first Thursday (1 - 5 p.m.), and the third Saturday (1 - 5 p.m.) of each month, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy this event at a leisurely pace and meet different artists each time you attend. You can view the full schedule online and find a self-guided walking tour of the Naples Art District for your convenience.
