The luxurious and private one-bedroom suites, with living rooms and kitchens, provide a personalized, home-like setting using a variety of designs and décor to stimulate social activity, including the innovative use of Life Bios and personal photo galleries. There are many benefits to living at Orchid Terrace or Oakstone. Residents will enjoy a full calendar of social, spiritual and life enrichment activities, which were designed to engage residents in meaningful activity programs that stimulate the senses such as sight, smell, hearing and touch.  One of those unique engaging programs is Opening Minds Through Art (OMA). It utilizes the talents and energies of student volunteers to assist residents in creating beautiful art, which is later put on display for other residents and family members to see. OMA has several main goals including: providing individuals with dementia the opportunity to engage in self-expression, and to breakdown the intergenerational barriers between those with dementia and younger people. The program also brings awareness to the general public on the many untapped abilities of older adults with dementia. Another engaging program is the mobile herb garden, which adds “spice to life” to the residents in Oakstone. Growing herbs in the mobile garden is a year-round activity. It’s like bringing nature indoors, with a tasty reward available after every successful growing period. The therapeutic horticulture has many benefits including, it stimulates all five senses and memory, its documented to reduce dementia risk factors by 36 percent, it improves motor skills, self-esteem and sleep, it reduces agitation in those living with dementia, and it purifies the air, calms the mind, and elevates mood. At Oakstone and Orchid Terrace, residents also receive individualized healthcare plans that embrace the uniqueness of their individual needs. Plus, there are numerous programs in place designed to create comfortable surroundings and easier transitions for our residents, as well as their families. Fees, which are available on a monthly basis to non-residents, include licensed professional care, 24-hour nursing services, all-inclusive assistance with Activities of Daily Living, and several dining venues and menu choices. Extensive daily menu selections featuring fresh foods and chef-prepared meals are the dining hallmarks at either center of excellence. The culinary teams, which include onsite registered dieticians, believe no resident should sacrifice quality for convenience, despite whatever special dietary needs they may have.
