Moorings Park Foundation Marks 25 Years of Giving: Residents Raise Over $12 Million for Local Charities

August 27, 2020

MP Foundation story picResidents of Moorings Park Communities have long been known for their generosity, distributing on average nearly $1 million a year in scholarships, project grants to local non-profits serving local senior citizens and local educational institutions.

In 2020, the foundation raised and awarded over $750,000 to a number of local organizations, while also providing pandemic relief assistance for its staff. An additional $525,000 was raised last year to encourage the building of affordable housing in Collier County and will be used in upcoming months as the project begins.

Since its formation in 1995, the Moorings Park Foundation has given $12,380,111 in grants and scholarships, with the bulk of it, nearly $9 million, awarded in just the last few years.

“During the last five years our residents have been especially generous with their giving,” said CEO and President of Moorings Park Institute, Inc., Dan Lavender. “As the Naples area grows – so grows the need to help others. Our great residents understand this and year after year have generously contributed more to the Foundation.”

“Our foundation was started 25 years ago with the mission of pooling our resident donations to help our employees, our neighbors, and our greater community outside our walls,” said foundation board chair Alan Horton, a resident of Mooring Park. “It’s our role to help others – and it brings us joy to do so.”

Assisting Those in Need

With a goal to assist local senior citizens, grants were awarded to the following agencies: AVOW Hospice Foundation, David Lawrence Mental Health Center, Inc.; Golden Gate Senior Center (Collier Senior Resources); Lighthouse of Collier; Naples Senior Center at JFCS; Parkinson’s Association; Step Smart Collier; and Valerie’s House.

Other grant recipients are colleges and agencies that work to boost the local Collier workforce through education, including: Florida Gulf Coast University; Florida SouthWestern State College; Grace Place; Guadalupe Center; Hodges University; Immokalee Technical College; Lorenzo Walker Technical College; and New Horizons of SWFL.

Moorings Park Foundation Scholarships are awarded annually in a competitive process by a selection committee of residents and community members. This year, 58 employees and employees’ family members are using these scholarships to attend college.

Providing Simply the Best® Services

“Moorings Park’s mission is to provide Simply the Best® facilities and services for successful aging with professional and compassionate care to each person we serve,” stated Lavender. “For 25 years the Foundation has expanded our mission as it partnered with over 30 local community organizations in an effort to help others live longer, happier and healthier lives.”

3 Spectacular Communities. 1 Superior Provider.

Moorings Park Communities consists of three exceptional Life Plan communities, all of which are located just minutes away from downtown Naples and its beautiful beaches. Each features luxurious residences, an active, vibrant lifestyle and concierge healthcare that’s included with residency.

The newest community, Moorings Park Grande Lake, is situated on the south side of Golden Gate Parkway between Airport-Pulling and Livingston roads. The community’s first residents have already begun enjoying a lifestyle others only dream of after moving in earlier this spring. Prices start at $1.5 million.

Moorings Park Communities’ first community is located on Goodlette-Frank Road, just south of Pine Ridge Road. Lakes, gardens and preserves are found throughout the campus. A wide array of residential options include the newly renovated Tower Residences with some of the most picturesque views on an 83-acre campus. Amenities include fine dining in Park Grill and Trio Restaurant, a 37,000 square foot Center for Health Living and year-round concerts in the stately Bower Chapel. Prices start at $395,000.

Moorings Park Communities’ second community, Moorings Park at Grey Oaks is sold out, but encourages interested parties to join their waiting list. Memory Care and Assisted Living suites are available. Located on Airport-Pulling Road, just north of Golden Gate Parkway, Moorings Park at Grey Oaks combines all the benefits of a Life Plan community with exquisite country club living. Residents not only have access to an abundance of onsite amenities, but also receive a Sports Membership to the nearby Grey Oaks Country Club. Pricing begins at $1.5 million.
