Moorings Park Recipient of 2015 Excellence in Industry Award

September 30, 2015

Moorings Park was presented with the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce’s 2015 Excellence in Industry Award for Business Expansion at an event held on September 16 at the Hilton Naples. The award acknowledged initiatives undertaken by the 501c3 not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community to expand both its residential capacity and service capabilities.

In 2014, Moorings Park expanded its capacity to provide its award-winning continuum of care to retirees with the creation of Moorings Park at Grey Oaks. After an April, 2014 groundbreaking, the 16-acre Moorings Park at Grey Oaks campus is currently under construction. At build-out, Moorings Park at Grey Oaks will include luxury residences in twelve buildings, thirteen penthouse style residences that were recently added to the design of the community’s spacious and distinctive clubhouse scheduled for completion in Phase IV construction, a Center for Healthy Living, a fourteen suite Assisted Living and twenty-four suite Memory Care facility, and three lushly landscaped 80,000-square foot gardens at build-out. Four Phase I buildings are scheduled for completion in fourth quarter, 2015. Currently, 343 people are working on the development of Moorings Park at Grey Oaks, which will result in the creation of 100 new jobs. Sales at Moorings Park at Grey Oaks were initiated in September, 2013. Ninety-six units included in Phases I-III sold out in twelve months. Ten of the thirteen penthouse style residences now included in the clubhouse design have also sold.

Moorings Park expanded its memory care capabilities in 2014 with the development of an eighteen suite memory care center within its renowned Orchid Terrace assisted living facility. Now open, the memory care center has been purposely designed to provide a life-affirming and comfortable home that addresses the needs of those with memory loss or who are in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease or some other form of dementia. Life Care residents at Moorings Park are eligible to receive memory care assistance at Orchid Terrace as part of their monthly fees while individuals from the greater-Naples area can receive services on a month-to-month basis at a daily rate with no entrance fees. Residents of the memory care center will receive Moorings Park’s award winning continuum of care that includes social, intellectual, spiritual, and recreational activities and events using the pioneering Best Friends approach that emphasizes relationships, communication and activity to help the person with dementia feel safe, secure and valued. In keeping with its tradition of excellence and commitment to pioneering the newest, most advanced methods of care available, Moorings Park is the only Continuing Care Retirement Community in Florida to integrate the internationally recognized Best Friends approach campus wide. The development of the memory care center resulted in the creation of twenty-two new jobs. The new memory care suites at Orchid Terrace will present a personalized, home-like setting using a variety of designs and décor to stimulate conversation and connections, including the innovative use of Life Storyboards and personalized photo galleries presented on iPads. Outdoor gardens, patios, and lanais will foster a sense of independence in a secured setting.

A Premier Senior Health Care Program implemented in 2014 supports the overall Moorings Park commitment to provide simply the best facilities and services with professional and compassionate care to each person served by the community. Moorings Park’s goal is to integrate primary and specialty healthcare with additional services to help residents enjoy longer, healthier and happier lives. Moorings Park’s Premier Senior Health Care Program provides personalized healthcare based on a model akin to a traditional family practice. Patients can expect care that emphasizes accessibility, personal attention, and compassion. Services are available to residents and members of Moorings Park with no additional fees, other than typical co-pays. Third-party billing to Medicare will occur for services when appropriate.

Moorings Park also expanded its nationally acknowledged leadership position among Continuing Care Retirement Communities in 2014 by joining forces with Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore to create one of the most innovative fellowship tracks in the field of Geriatric medicine. The newly designed track will train experts in the field who will be equipped to transition into leadership positions. The two-year fellowship will include one clinical year in Geriatric medicine at Johns Hopkins, and one year of leadership training in senior practice management and medical direction at the Moorings Park campus located on Goodlette-Frank Road. An important objective of this fellowship program is to prepare leaders in Geriatric medicine in Florida, so applicants who plan to have a career in Florida are strongly preferred. Johns Hopkins and Moorings Park are acknowledged leaders in their respective fields and fully appreciate the growing need for leaders in Gerontology, particularly in Florida. Moorings Park fully expects this fellowship program will ultimately have a positive impact on the quality of care retirees receive throughout the state and confident that the service to its residents will ultimately be enhanced through this program.
