The Chateau at Moorings Parks Earns Governor’s Gold Seal Award

August 18, 2017

For the third consecutive time, The Chateau® at Moorings Park has been named a recipient of the Governor’s Gold Seal Award. Established in 2002, the Gold Seal Award program recognizes Florida nursing homes that have exceptionally high standards and display excellence in the quality of care delivered to their residents.

The 5-Star rated Chateau at Moorings Park is a Medicare-certified Skilled Nursing Center providing short term therapy, long term care and memory care services.

“Being a recipient of the Governor’s Gold Seal Award, which is awarded every three years, is testament to Mooring Park’s commitment to providing Simply the Best® quality healthcare and services available in the region,” stated Dan Lavender, CEO and President of Moorings Park.

The Gold Seal Award program was developed and implemented by the Governor’s Panel on Excellence in Long Term Care, which is composed of persons appointed by the Governor’s office, Agency for Health Care Administration, Department of Health, Department of Elder Affairs, Leading Age Florida, Florida Health Care Association, Florida Life Care Residents Association, and the State Long Term Care Ombudsman.

Centers that wish to be considered for the Gold Seal Award must submit an application with supporting documentation to the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, which is then reviewed by the Governor’s Panel on Excellence in Long Term Care. The panel considers stringent criteria and then makes recommendations to the Governor. Successful applicants must meet a quality of care scoring and ranking that places them in the top 10 percent in their region or top 15 percent in the state, and be a 5-Star facility in the Nursing Home Guide. They cannot have any Class I or II deficiencies within 30 months preceding their application and provide evidence of financial soundness and stability.

Applicants must also participate in a consumer satisfaction process involving residents, family members, and guardians, as well as demonstrate they involve families and members of the community in the facility on a regular basis and have a stable workforce.

Residents of The Chateau enjoy a full calendar of social, recreational and spiritual activities, including music therapy and chaplaincy service.

The Chateau’s long term care program offers support for a variety of chronic illnesses or disabilities. Residents have the choice of spacious, tastefully furnished private and semi-private rooms or they can bring their own favorite pieces from home to retain the continuity of familiar surroundings. By working closely with residents’ physicians and family members, individualized care plans are created that address long-term needs.

The memory care services at The Chateau assist residents through the various stages of Alzheimer’s and other related dementias. Moorings Park’s Best Friends™ approach offers person-centered care to residents by utilizing unique tools designed to engage residents in purposeful communication and camaraderie with their neighbors, thereby helping residents with dementia feel safe, secure and valued.

The Chateau also provides short term rehabilitation services including physical, occupational and speech therapies following surgical procedures such as hip and knee replacement, cardiac care, neurosurgery and general surgery. Residents who utilize The Chateau for rehabilitation services receive a personal therapy plan based on the type of surgery they received, their individual capabilities, and their personal goals.

Residents of The Chateau also gain access to Moorings Park’s world-class continuum of care, which includes Orchid Terrace Assisted Living, Moorings Park Home Healthy, Private Duty and Care Management, as well as Outpatient Rehabilitation centers.
