What is TRX?

TRX, or Total Body Resistance Exercise, is a form of suspension training that utilizes body weight as the resistance. TRX training can be used to improve strength, core stability, balance, and flexibility. This fitness form allows for a full-body workout where resistance can be added or taken away by simply modifying the position of the feet or body.

This is accomplished with the help of heavy-duty adjustable straps attached to an anchor point to help hold your weight. Regular movements such as push-ups, pull-ups, planks, lunges, and squats can all be done and elevated with the use of these straps.

Because TRX uses your own weight as resistance, it is suitable for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level. It welcomes beginners, professional athletes, and everyone in between.

What are the Benefits of TRX?

Any muscle in the body can benefit from TRX as this is a total body workout. Your arms, legs, core, and back are all used as your body is being held up by your strength. Furthermore, TRX is known to burn fat, build muscle, and improve flexibility.

A perk to this workout is you can do it almost anywhere - indoors or out; all you need is an anchor point, whether that is a tree or door is up to you. This makes working out more enjoyable as you can easily put a twist on classic exercises.

No matter the movements, you can set the pace and resistance, avoiding any unnecessary strain on your body. TRX is fully customizable and versatile.

TRX at Moorings Park at Grey Oaks

This fun, group class is available Tuesday and Thursday from 8 am - 8:30 am every week; it begins with a light warm-up, followed by lower-body and upper-body exercises, and ends with full-body stretching.

If you’re looking to add a twist to your workout routine, members of Moorings Park at Grey Oaks are encouraged to join the new TRX Suspension Training Class taught by Exercise Specialist, Luisao Morays.

Why does he find this class unique for his clients? “It doesn’t use freeweights or machines. Our body weight is the resistance with TRX; its use of suspension requires many areas of the body to be engaged to perform the movements.”

Of course, TRX Suspension Training is only one of the many fitness classes offered at Moorings Park Communities; others include chair yoga, Aqua Power, Barre Basics, Core Pilates, Tai Chi, and more. Members may also visit any of our fitness centers to work with one of our many certified personal trainers to curate a fully customized workout plan.
